Την Παρασκευή 15/1/2016 ολοκληρώθηκε με επιτυχία η Επιστημονική Ημερίδα με τίτλο «ΕΝΕΡΓΕΙΑΚΗ ΑΞΙΟΠΟΙΗΣΗ ΑΠΟΒΛΗΤΩΝ ΣΤΟ ΠΛΑΙΣΙΟ ΜΙΑΣ ΟΛΟΚΛΗΡΩΜΕΝΗΣ ΑΕΙΦΟΡΟΥ ΔΙΑΧΕΙΡΙΣΗΣ» που διοργάνωσε στο ΕΜΠ το Συμβούλιο Ενεργειακής Αξιοποίησης Αποβλήτων (ΣΥΝΕΡΓΕΙΑ) – Ελληνικό παράρτημα του Διεθνούς Δικτύου Ενεργειακής Αξιοποίησης του Πανεπιστημίου Columbia-Earth Engineering Center – σε συνεργασία με το ΕΜΠ.
Στην ημερίδα απεύθυνε χαιρετισμό ο Αναπληρωτής Υπουργός Περιβάλλοντος και Ενέργειας, Κος Ιωάννης Τσιρώνης, ο οποίος ανέφερε ότι οι Τεχνολογίες Ενεργειακής Αξιοποίησης Αποβλήτων αποτελούν μέρος των εναλλακτικών τεχνολογιών που θα πρέπει να ληφθούν υπόψη στον ολοκληρωμένο σχεδιασμό στα πλαίσια του Εθνικού Σχεδιασμού και ότι η πολιτεία θα τις λάβει σοβαρά υπόψη της. Στα πλαίσια της ιεράρχησης των προτεραιοτήτων που επιβάλλει και ο ευρωπαϊκός νόμος-πλαίσιο για τα απόβλητα προηγείται η ανάκτηση υλικών μέσω κάθε δυνατής μορφής ανακύκλωσης και στην συνέχεια μπορούν να εξετάζονται όλες οι εναλλακτικές δυνατότητες ενεργειακής αξιοποίησης.
Ο ΓΓ Συντονισμού Διαχείρισης Αποβλήτων Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών και Διοικητικής Ανασυγκρότησης, Κος Ευάγγελος Καπετάνιος ανέφερε την αναγκαιότητα των σχετικών τεχνολογιών ως βασικό μέρος του σχεδιασμού με δυνατότητες αξιοποίησης των απορριμμάτων για την παραγωγή σημαντικών ποσοτήτων ηλεκτρικής και θερμικής ενέργειας στα πλαίσια της κυκλικής οικονομίας.
Ο Πρόεδρος του Συμβουλίου Ενεργειακής Αξιοποίησης Αποβλήτων (ΣΥΝΕΡΓΕΙΑ), Επικ. Καθηγητής ΕΜΠ Κωνσταντινος Αραβώσης, παρουσίασε συνοπτικά τις εναλλακτικές τεχνολογίες ενεργειακής αξιοποίησης που συνίστανται στην αξιοποίηση του παραγόμενου βιοαερίου από αναερόβια χώνευση και από τους ΧΥΤΑ , της παραγωγής εναλλακτικών καυσίμων από τα Απορρίμματα και τις θερμικές μεθόδους ενώ κατέληξε με συγκεκριμένες προτάσεις για την χώρα μας.
Ο καθηγητής του Πανεπιστημίου Columbia και ιδρυτής του διεθνούς δικτύου ενεργειακής αξιοποίησης Nick Themelis παρουσίασε πολλές βέλτιστες πρακτικές από τη διεθνή εμπειρία, ενώ Πανεπιστημιακοί και ειδικοί επιστήμονες παρουσίασαν λεπτομερώς τις εναλλακτικές τεχνολογίες ενεργειακής Αξιοποίησης με τα επιμέρους χαρακτηριστικά τους.
